Benha National University organized a visit for its students to the Cairo International Book Fair in its 56th edition, “Read... In the Beginning Was the Word.” This visit comes as part of the university's plan to enhance the cultural aspect among students.
Prof. Tamer Samir, the university president, explained that the visit aims to encourage students to read and explore the latest literary and cultural publications, as well as to introduce them to the significance of the Cairo International Book Fair as a prominent cultural event. The student delegation toured the exhibition halls, where they explored various publishing houses.
The university president praised the vital role of book fairs in shaping university students' awareness, noting that the student delegation's visit included inspecting the booths of the Ministry of Defense, the Police Academy, and the Administrative Control Authority.
Prof. Tamer Samir confirmed the university's commitment to organizing such visits for students, emphasizing their importance in enhancing their cultural awareness and encouraging them to read and research. The university always seeks to provide students with opportunities to learn about different cultures and gain knowledge in all scientific and cultural fields.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, stressed the importance of promoting cultural activities in students' university lives, indicating that visiting the Cairo International Book Fair is a valuable opportunity to broaden students' horizons of knowledge and culture. He added that the fair represents an ideal platform for interacting with the latest ideas and literary and cultural trends, contributing to the formation of the university student's personality and raising their cultural awareness.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby noted that the university continually strives to integrate cultural activities with academic aspects, as reading is not merely a hobby but the foundation for building critical and analytical thinking among students. He emphasized the importance of supporting such events that enhance creativity and innovation within the university community and help students develop their intellectual and social skills. He also mentioned that the university will continue to organize such visits and cultural events as part of its comprehensive education strategy.
Cairo International Book Fair is one of the oldest and largest book fairs in the Middle East, attracting millions of visitors from around the world. This year, 1,345 publishing houses and 6,150 exhibitors from 80 countries are participating in the fair to showcase the latest literary, intellectual, and cultural publications.
