The Prime Minister inspected Benha National University in Al-Obour City

Madbouly: National universities offer modern academic programs that meet labor market requirements

The university offers 26 advanced academic programs designed according to the latest global systems while preserving the Egyptian national identity.

As part of his tour today to inspect several developmental and service projects in Qalyubia Governorate, Prof. Mustafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, and his companions visited Benha National University in Al-Obour City, where he was received by Prof. Gamal El-Said, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Benha National University, Prof. Soheir Sharawy, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significant support that the Egyptian state provides for higher education in Egypt, particularly in establishing national universities and equipping them with the latest technological devices and information infrastructure to emulate prestigious international universities, noting that national universities offer modern academic programs that align with labor market demands.

Prof. Mustafa Madbouly pointed out that there is a comprehensive vision for the state to make Egypt an attractive educational destination and a hub for those seeking exceptional educational services in the region, highlighting that the Egyptian higher education system diversifies its educational services in different languages to attract the largest number of students from various nationalities, in addition to exporting knowledge abroad.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that there is indeed integration between public universities and national universities to provide an advanced and distinguished educational experience for students, ensuring that we have modern academic programs that meet the requirements of the era, according to the latest international educational systems in this field.

Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, indicated that the expansion in establishing new universities came as a result of the tremendous support provided by His Excellency Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to accommodate the increasing demand for the higher education system and to improve the quality of educational services provided to students, enabling them to meet labor market needs.

The minister added that national universities offer modern interdisciplinary academic programs that align with labor market needs and include laboratories and workshops equipped with the latest educational systems and technologies, affirming that these universities represent a qualitative addition that contributes to preparing graduates capable of supporting local industry and enhancing the national economy, in line with the goals of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research.

At the beginning of his inspection of the university, the Prime Minister and his companions listened to an explanation from Prof. Gamal El-Said, Chair of the Board of Trustees of Benha National University, about the components of the university, which he explained is located in the heart of Al-Obour City in Kalyobiya Governorate, covering an area of 40 acres, and includes 9 Colleges:

  • Medicine,
  • Dentistry,
  • Physical Therapy,
  • Engineering,
  • Economics and Business Administration,
  • Computer Science,
  • Visual Arts and Design,
  • Veterinary Medicine,
  • Energy Sciences.

Prof. Gamal El-Said noted that the university was established under Presidential Decree No. (369) of 2022, initially including seven Colleges, and then Presidential Decree No. (344) of 2023 was issued to add two new Colleges, bringing the total number of Colleges to nine. He confirmed that the university began actual studies in the academic year 2022/2023 and continues to expand by gradually starting studies in the new Colleges until the year 2025/2026, which will witness the completion of the academic programs at the university.

The Chair of the Board of Trustees added that the university offers 26 advanced academic programs designed according to the latest global systems while preserving the Egyptian national identity, confirming that the university seeks through its academic programs and international partnerships to provide education with global standards that contributes to preparing qualified graduates to compete regionally and internationally, and to support the state's efforts towards digital transformation and sustainable development, noting that the number of students at the university currently stands at about 8,500 students, with a future absorption plan aimed at reaching 15,000 students.

During the campus tour, the Prime Minister and his companions listened to an explanation from Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, who clarified that the campus was designed according to the latest global specifications to be a fourth-generation smart university, providing a modern educational environment that encourages creativity and applied scientific research. It includes 10 main buildings, including an administrative building that houses the main offices and a modern theater equipped to host events and conferences, as well as six academic buildings that include classrooms and specialized laboratories at the highest level, in addition to a central laboratory building that is considered the brain of the university and its research center, equipped with the latest devices and technologies, and two buildings for engineering and applied workshops to serve practical programs, along with recreational areas, a sports complex, a Roman theater, and a central library that contains the latest digital and print resources.

the Prime Minister and his companions inspected several laboratories in the College of Engineering in Building (G), which includes the Fluid Dynamics Lab, Network Lab, and Robotics Lab, all equipped with the latest devices and technologies to support the practical and applied aspects for the college students.

Prof. Mustafa Madbouly engaged in a friendly conversation with one of the female students present in the Fluid Dynamics Lab, discussing the nature of the device she was working on and its role and capabilities. The students in the Robotics Lab presented a model of one of the robots specialized in detecting explosives to support civil protection, in addition to another robot representing a model of a submarine designed to clean tanks from impurities, as well as a miniature simulation model of a production line based on robotics in manufacturing.

Prof. Tamer Samir confirmed that Benha National University places the student at the heart of the educational process and strives to graduate young people with innovative thinking and the ability to interact with the challenges of the era, making the university truly a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and academic excellence in Egypt and the region.

The Prime Minister and his companions then proceeded to Building (A), which includes modern lecture halls and classrooms, where he spoke to the students present in the Physical Therapy lecture hall, affirming his interest during his visit to Benha National University in listening to their opinions about the national university as a model, which originated from the state's desire to establish a new pattern of higher education among public and private universities, providing high-quality and distinguished education with fewer students and at a cost suitable for middle-income families, noting that this idea has received great interest in light of the distinguished programs offered by these universities.

the students confirmed that the university listens to their opinions and is keen on developing their skills and personalities, while also providing a high level of educational quality and curricula that are considered the best in Egypt, in addition to providing qualified College members with high capabilities to convey information and use modern teaching methods.

The Prime Minister also inspected the dental simulation laboratories and educational dental clinics located in Building (A), which provide a comprehensive educational and training environment for students of the College of Dentistry according to the latest global academic standards, where he observed students working actively in the laboratories and practicing dental treatments on simulation models.

Prof. Mustafa Madbouly praised the high level of equipment and facilities he observed.

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, confirmed the university's interest in integrating student activities, sports, and arts into the educational process to enhance leadership and teamwork skills, as well as implementing ambitious plans for cooperation with research and industrial institutions to provide real training opportunities for students and connect their studies with the labor market.

The Prime Minister and his companions also viewed an art exhibition by students titled "Art Embodies the Journey of Building the New Republic" in the Roman amphitheater at the university, which included artistic paintings through which the students expressed their pride in their country, showcasing various scenes of the major urban renaissance taking place in Egypt across various fields, in addition to national projects in education, industry, agriculture, and infrastructure, as part of an initiative to document the efforts made to build the new republic.

The Prime Minister took a commemorative photo with the participating students in the art exhibition.

At the end of his tour of the university, the Prime Minister directed the Minister of Higher Education to study the possibility of establishing a specialization in jewelry and accessory manufacturing at Benha University or one of the specialized technological universities, to welcome creative and innovative students from the "Egypt Gold" school graduates, where Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy clarified that there is already a similar program at the university currently being worked on to complete its regulations in order to serve the graduates of jewelry and accessory manufacturing schools.
