Benha National University organized a field visit for its students to the Cairo International Book Fair in its fifty-seventh edition, with the participation of 50 male and female students from various Colleges of the university. This initiative is part of the university's commitment to enhancing cultural and intellectual awareness among its students and strengthening their connection to the cultural and intellectual movement taking place in Egypt.
The university's participation in the fair, which this year is held under the slogan "He who stops reading for an hour, lags behind the world for centuries," is inspired by the thoughts of our global writer Naguib Mahfouz. The events of the 57th edition commenced on January 21 and will continue until February 3, emphasizing the role of books in shaping awareness and building the future.
The visit included a tour of several exhibition pavilions, including the pavilion of the Ministry of Defense, the pavilion of the Ministry of Interior, and the pavilion of the Administrative Control Authority, along with exploring various other pavilions where students learned about cultural and intellectual publications and the awareness activities offered by the participating entities.
Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, affirmed that the Cairo International Book Fair holds a significant place as the largest cultural event in Egypt and one of the most prominent cultural manifestations in the region. He pointed out that organizing such visits reflects the growing awareness of the importance of culture and knowledge, and that the fair represents a leading cultural platform that contributes to building the individual, enhancing national identity, and supporting the state's efforts in spreading cultural and intellectual awareness.
Prof. Hussein Al-Maghraby, Vice President of Benha National University for Academic Affairs, explained that student participation in the visit to the fair is part of the university's strategy to connect the educational process with cultural activities and to develop students' thinking and reading skills. He emphasized that such visits contribute to preparing a conscious and cultured generation capable of positively interacting with societal issues. This visit is part of the student activities plan at Benha National University, which aims to support the cultural and intellectual aspects among students and prepare them to be active contributors to community building.
The participating students expressed their happiness with the visit, as it provided them with the opportunity to explore the latest cultural and intellectual publications and to learn about the efforts of state institutions in supporting culture and spreading knowledge.
