Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and under the supervision of Prof. Mahmoud Sakr, Vice President for Employment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the University has launched a two-day training program for the 2026 University Waste Management Competition.
The program brought together the student teams participating in the competition, with the aim of helping them refine their ideas and translate them into innovative, practical solutions and projects that contribute to sustainability, environmental protection, and community development.
The first day featured Prof. Ahmed Attia, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering in Shoubra, who addressed key aspects of idea development and innovation, helping the participating teams refine their concepts and strengthen their practical applicability.
The second day featured a group of specialists from the Ministry of Industry:
- Eng. Mohamed Mahmoud, Director of the Cleaner Production Technology Center and the Technical Office of the Minister of Industry’s Advisor for Energy Affairs.
- Prof. Khaled Abdeen Mahmoud, Director General of Business Development Centers at the Ministry of Industry.
- Eng. Mariam Mahrous, Deputy Director of the Cleaner Production Technology Center for Resource Efficiency at the Ministry of Industry.
- Eng. Mohamed Salem, Ministry of Industry.
The training program featured a series of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions, complemented by brainstorming activities and collaborative work. These activities supported the development and refinement of the participating teams’ ideas, strengthening their ability to propose innovative and practical solutions and projects.
The sessions also explored key areas related to waste management, resource efficiency, innovation, and the transformation of initial ideas into projects capable of generating tangible value and sustainable impact. Students also had the opportunity to engage directly with specialists and benefit from their expertise and guidance.
The program is designed to strengthen students’ innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while connecting their ideas to the real needs of society and the environment. It also supports their ability to develop practical and sustainable solutions in the field of waste management.
