Benha National University Honors the Engineering Team that Won First Place

Prof. Gamal El-Saeed, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Benha National University, received the members of the Innovators 2024 team from the College of Engineering, who achieved first place in the Benha University Innovation Marathon 2024 in the category of "Using Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Renewable Energy Efficiency" with their project on clean energy vehicles powered by artificial intelligence.

El-Saeed congratulated the winning team, emphasizing that the university is keen to encourage its students to excel in various local and international competitions, supporting innovators and talents while benefiting from their entrepreneurial and innovative ideas in line with Egypt's Vision for Sustainable Development 2030. He added that student participation in such scientific and innovative competitions aims to hone their talents and apply their knowledge in vital fields like artificial intelligence and sustainable development.

Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Acting President of Benha National University, affirmed the university's commitment to supporting students, helping them, and continuously motivating them to participate in various competitions and events. He noted that student participation in this scientific marathon represents a convergence of academic education and practical application. He added that the winning team made significant efforts to achieve victory amid the challenging competition, which saw 423 contestants representing 144 teams from 73 different educational institutions, with 32 teams qualifying for the final stage of the marathon.

Prof. Mohamed Said, Director of Programs at the College of Engineering, explained that the project presented by the winning team aims to convert electric cars to be powered by green hydrogen, which is one of the most important types of clean renewable energy that protects the environment. The project also seeks to improve fuel consumption efficiency using artificial intelligence and linking the system to an application related to mobile phones to enhance performance and increase efficiency.

It is noteworthy that the winning team from the College of Engineering at Benha National University includes second-year students: Saif El-Din Abu Al-Ala Atefy, Karen Samah Abdullah Makari, Iyad Amr Said Ibrahim, and Hagar Yasser Ibrahim Abdel-Ghaffar. The team worked under the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Said, Director of Programs at the College of Engineering, and Engineer Dina El-Naggar, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering and Student Activities Coordinator, along with Engineer Mariam Mohamed, Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering.

The Benha University Innovation Marathon 2024 was organized by Benha University at the Digital Egypt Creativity Center under the title "Applications of Artificial Intelligence to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals," held from September 1 to 3. The competition categories included using artificial intelligence to enhance renewable energy efficiency, using artificial intelligence in the medical field, improving industrial robot performance, increasing agricultural productivity, creating smart and sustainable cities, protecting the environment, and addressing food security challenges through artificial intelligence.
