Benha National University organized a workshop titled "Governance, Sustainable Development, and Egypt Vision 2030" in collaboration with the Engineers for Sustainable Egypt Foundation, attended by Professor Tamer Samir, the university president, and Professor Mahmoud Shakl, the vice president for employment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
This workshop is part of a series of awareness seminars organized by the university under the "Bidaya" initiative, which aims to build human capacity and raise awareness in the academic community about vital issues that contribute to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development, in line with the presidential initiative for human development.
Prof. Tamer Samir emphasized in his speech that governance and sustainable development are fundamental pillars of Egypt Vision 2030, which focuses on achieving sustainable economic and social development. He added that the workshop represents a golden opportunity for students to understand the basic concepts related to governance and how to apply them in various fields, contributing to building a sustainable community and enhancing values of transparency, accountability, and community participation.
Prof. Mahmoud Shakl highlighted the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship as tools for achieving sustainable development, stressing the need to equip students with the skills that enable them to think critically and creatively, helping them face future challenges. He added that these skills will open wide horizons for them to contribute effectively to community development.
The workshop also included a presentation by Engineer Mohamed Kamel, Chairman of the Engineers for Sustainable Egypt Foundation, regarding the Sustainable Development Goals and the National Climate Change Strategy 2050, where he explained the importance of addressing climate change and its impact on sustainable development.
The workshop witnessed significant interaction from university students, who posed questions and constructive suggestions related to the application of governance and mechanisms for achieving sustainability, reflecting their increasing awareness of the importance of these issues in building a better future.
At the end of the workshop, participants affirmed that achieving Egypt Vision 2030 requires integrated efforts in the fields of governance and sustainable development, ensuring a better future for Egypt and its upcoming generations, noting the importance of continuing such initiatives that contribute to developing youth capabilities and providing them with the necessary knowledge to become future leaders in the field of development.
