Under the auspices of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of the University, and as part of Benha National University's commitment to enhancing the practical and applied aspects for its students, as well as the fruitful and constructive cooperation between the university and the leadership of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, the university organized a scientific visit for students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to the Armed Forces Veterinary Hospital. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the latest devices and technologies used in veterinary medicine and to gain practical experience by observing various diagnostic and treatment mechanisms.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, emphasized the importance of these scientific visits in enhancing the practical side for students, noting that such activities contribute to improving students' efficiency and preparing them for the job market. He added that the university is always keen to enhance cooperation with military and civilian institutions to provide exceptional training and scientific opportunities for its students.
The student delegation was accompanied by Prof. Ayman Samir, Dean of the Veterinary Medicine College. The visit included several specialized units and laboratories within the hospital, where the students toured the X-Ray unit and learned about the latest radiographic imaging techniques used in diagnosing animal diseases. They also visited the endoscopy unit, which allows for precise examinations of various cases, and the ophthalmology unit, where they were introduced to the methods of diagnosing and treating eye diseases in animals.
The tour also included a visit to the PCR laboratory, which is used for accurately detecting viral and bacterial diseases, in addition to passing through surgical operation rooms and diagnostic imaging areas, where students learned about the latest surgical intervention methods and modern techniques used in diagnostic imaging. They also observed the stages of post-operative care through the recovery room.
Students visited the reference laboratory for artificial insemination and embryo transfer and preservation, which is one of the most important research centers specializing in improving animal breeds and preserving the original Arab genes of horses. The tour concluded with a visit to the horse stable, where students learned about the medical and therapeutic care methods for horses and the importance of this unit in providing necessary veterinary services to maintain the health of horses used in various fields.
This visit came as part of Benha National University's strategy to support the educational process and develop students' practical skills, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030 for achieving academic and research excellence.
