Benha National University Engineering Team won Second Place in the “Smart Education Hackathon”

Under the auspices of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, the Engineering team achieved second place in the finals of the “Smart Education Hackathon,” organized by Benha University in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Innovators and Talents Care Fund (ISF), and the Information Technology Institute (ITI) affiliated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. This event marks the fourth consecutive year under the slogan “Artificial Intelligence Applications: Egypt's Digital Future.”

This announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the Hackathon, attended by Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Said, Dean of Engineering College, and Prof. Shady El-Mashad, Dean of Computer Science College.

Prof. Tamer Samir congratulated the winning team from the College of Engineering, expressing pride in the efforts made by university students during the project preparation and participation phases. He emphasized his full support for participating in such competitions that enhance students' creative, innovative, and technological skills.

Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby highlighted the importance of participating in such events, as they contribute to the development of students' practical skills and enhance their ability to innovate. He noted that these experiences open new horizons for students and help them face the challenges of the job market.

Prof. Mohamed Said, Dean of the Engineering College, mentioned that the winning team in the Teacher Assistance Systems track presented an innovative project titled "SAMU." The project idea is a smart application that assists all university members, including students, campus security, and College members, in various issues they face at the university, such as automatic attendance management, a food ordering system from restaurants, AI chat for student guidance, report analysis for professors, and a student activity board displaying new events and clubs. The winning team comprised outstanding students:

Prof. Mohamed Said stated that the participation of the College of Engineering comes as part of the university's commitment to encouraging students to innovate and participate in scientific and technological events, which contributes to developing their skills and enhances their opportunities in the job market.

Prof. Shady El-Mashad added that Benha National University Hackathon saw the advancement of 35 teams from 25 public, private, and national universities across 7 tracks. The projects were evaluated by a judging panel composed of experts in technology and education, relying on innovation criteria.
