As part of its ongoing efforts to develop the higher education system and ensure the quality of academic outcomes, Benha National University organized a specialized training workshop titled “Student Assessment and How to Prepare a Test Specification Table.” The workshop was attended by several faculty members from various academic disciplines.
This event was held under the auspices of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and supervised by Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby emphasized the university's commitment to qualifying academic staff with the latest standards and methods in the field of assessment and measurement, which contributes to enhancing the credibility of the educational process and achieving academic fairness among students. He confirmed that preparing a test specification table is one of the essential scientific tools that ensure alignment between assessments and targeted learning outcomes. He pointed out that the workshop is part of the university's strategic plan to support the continuous professional development of faculty members and ensure the implementation of effective assessment practices based on quality standards.
The workshop was presented by Prof. Osama Abdel Mohsen Salem, Executive Director of the Project for Developing Assessment Systems for Scientific and Oral Tests. He highlighted the importance of assessment in improving academic performance, the differences between types of assessment (summative and formative), as well as the stages of preparing the specification table and methods for constructing standardized tests that measure various cognitive skills among students.
The workshop witnessed significant interaction from the attendees, who praised the content of the session, affirming the importance of continuing such training programs that contribute to developing their professional capabilities and enhancing the quality of academic performance within classrooms. By the end of the session, it was agreed to prepare a unified model for the test specification table (blueprint) for all university programs.
