Benha National University launched its first community dialogue event to prepare its strategic plan. This event saw wide participation from academic leaders, representatives of civil society, experts, and economic and financial entities, as well as parents of students.
The meeting was attended by :
- Tamer Samir, President of the University,
- Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Supervisor of the Strategic Plan Preparation,
- Fatma Abdel Wahab, Supervisor of the Strategic Planning Office at the University,
- Deans of the Colleges.
A large number of local community representatives and parents participated in the event, including Eng. Mohamed Hamid El-Sharif, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of El-Obour City, Prof. Nagah El-Ajmi, Director of the Endowments Administration in Qalyubia, Father Youssef Sidham Attia, Father Noufer Nabil from St. Paul the Apostle Church in Obour City, Prof. Ahmed Shawky, Head of the Dentists Syndicate in Kalyobiya, Prof. Tamer Ahmed, Secretary General of the Syndicate, Eng. Mohamed Kamel, Chairman of the “Engineers for Sustainable Egypt” Foundation, writer and broadcaster Raghi Amer, Prof. Taj Nasrhi Khamis, Board Member of Farid Habib Hospital in Obour, Prof. Riham Abdel Fattah, Branch Manager of Banque Misr in Obour, Prof. Mohamed El-Naggar, Head of the Non-Financial Services Sector at Cairo Bank, in addition to representatives from the Banking Institute, Mr. Omar Makawy, and Mr. Fadi Magdy, along with several leaders from the administrative and executive apparatus in El-Obour City.
Prof. Tamer Samir welcomed the participants, emphasizing that the community dialogue represents a pivotal step towards formulating a comprehensive strategic vision that meets the aspirations of the university and aligns with sustainable development goals. He explained that the university, as a non-profit educational institution, reinvests its revenues in developing academic programs and improving the quality of services provided to students. He also pointed out that the university has launched pioneering initiatives to support students financially through paid work opportunities during the summer vacation, which contributes to enhancing their skills and preparing them for the labor market.
The university president stressed the importance of building strategic partnerships with prestigious international educational institutions to open broader training horizons, aiming to graduate cadres capable of competing locally and internationally, possessing skills and knowledge that align with the changing labor market demands.
Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby outlined the main points of the strategic plan document, indicating that the goal of the meeting is to involve all internal and external parties in preparing the plan, which contributes to enhancing institutional performance and achieving quality education and sustainable development. He discussed the stages of preparing strategic plans in higher education, which include analyzing the internal and external environment, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and determining future opportunities and challenges, emphasizing that the plan is consistent with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Prof. Fatma Abdel Wahab reviewed the methodology for preparing the plan, which relied on the SWOT analysis with the participation of College members, students, administrators, and local community representatives, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in reaching accurate and comprehensive results.
