Benha National University Launched First Environmental Forum Under the Slogan "Together for a Sustainable World"

Benha National University organized its First Environmental Forum under the slogan "Together for a Sustainable World", as part of its strategy to embed sustainability culture, raise environmental awareness within the academic community, and highlight students’ role in addressing ecological challenges through innovative solutions for Egypt’s sustainable development.

Event Highlights

  1. Leadership Participation:
    • Tamer Samir(University President) emphasized aligning university efforts with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including quality education, climate action, and innovation.
    • Mahmoud Shakl(Vice President for Employment, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship) highlighted student project support and fostering industry-academia linkages.
    • Hussein Al-Maghraby(Vice President for Academic Affairs) underscored academic integration of sustainability.
  2. International Collaboration:
    • Counselor Arif Ali Rashid Al-Abbar(Co-founder of Emaar and Egli Hills, UAE) announced a full scholarship to implement an outstanding student project in the UAE desert.
  3. Panel Discussions:
    • Session 1"Higher Education’s Role in Environmental Awareness, Waste Management, and Recycling"with  Tamer SamirProf. Mahmoud Shakl, and Eng. Mohamed Kamel (Head of Engineers for Sustainable Egypt).
    • Session 2"Climate Change and Renewable Energy: Current Challenges and Future Sustainability"featuring experts from GIZ (German International Cooperation Agency) and youth representatives.
  4. Student Innovations:
    • Student Exhibitionshowcased projects by teams like InketsTieret, and students Mohamed Mahmoud ShaklAdham Abdelkader, and Karim Wael, focusing on eco-friendly solutions.
  5. Recommendations:
    • Launching the "Green Campus"
