Benha National University Launches Innovation Day in Celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Day

Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, the University launched Innovation Day in conjunction with World Creativity and Innovation Day, as part of its strategic commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and strengthening the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship. The initiative supports the alignment of educational outcomes with labor market needs and contributes to advancing a knowledge-based national economy.

Prof. Tamer Samir affirmed that the event reflects the University’s vision of building a modern educational system founded on innovation, continuous development, and the effective transformation of knowledge into practical applications. He emphasized that innovation is no longer a discretionary pursuit, but an essential imperative for responding to global change and achieving institutional excellence.

The President further noted that Benha National University has adopted the concept of productive innovation, which focuses on transforming ideas into marketable products and services through the cultivation of an entrepreneurial environment and the expansion of partnerships with the industrial sector. This approach contributes to directing scientific research toward addressing societal needs and meeting the evolving demands of the labor market.

He added that the University is committed to preparing a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of creating employment opportunities and driving economic progress. He underscored that investment in human intellect constitutes a cornerstone of sustainable development and the advancement of a knowledge-based economy, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030. He also encouraged students to pursue innovation with confidence and to view failure as an integral step on the path to success.

Prof. Mahmoud Shakal, Vice President for Employment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, reaffirmed the University’s commitment to developing a comprehensive framework for innovation support by strengthening students’ entrepreneurial capabilities and expanding collaboration with productive sectors. He noted that these efforts are designed to prepare graduates who are well equipped to compete in both national and international labor markets.

The event also featured a high-level dialogue session chaired by Prof. Tamer Samir, focusing on strategies for advancing academic programs in line with an integrated model that connects education, industry, scientific research, and innovation.

The program included a series of specialized lectures delivered by distinguished experts. Prof. Osama Hamdy, Professor of Medicine and Diabetes at Harvard Medical School, presented the latest developments in medical innovation and health technologies. Prof. Gamal Youssef, expert at the Arab Organization for Development of the League of Arab States and member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, addressed the role of innovation in achieving sustainable development. Prof. Mohamed Ali Diab, Director of Industrial Development at El Araby Group, highlighted the contribution of industry to supporting innovation and translating ideas into practical applications. Engineer Kamal Abdelmalek, Chairman of EAST, emphasized the importance of innovative marketing in supporting start-ups and enhancing their competitiveness.

At the conclusion of the event, the University President toured the Student Innovation Exhibition, where he reviewed a range of student projects and ideas and received detailed presentations from participating teams. He commended the outstanding quality of the exhibits and reaffirmed the University’s continued support for emerging talent and its commitment to fostering innovation and creativity as essential drivers of sustainable development and the growth of the knowledge economy.
