As part of its broader commitment to promoting scientific awareness, technological advancement, and innovation-driven education, Benha National University organized a scientific symposium exploring the peaceful uses of atomic energy and radiation safety, bringing together specialists from the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority alongside faculty members, students, and participants interested in scientific and technological research.
Prof. Tamer Samir, President of the University, emphasized that specialized scientific events play an important role in strengthening students’ knowledge and practical competencies while exposing them to emerging scientific and technological applications aligned with evolving industry and labor market demands.
He further noted that the University continues to strengthen cooperation with national research institutions in support of innovation and the integration of academic learning with applied practice.
Benha National University signed a cooperation protocol with the Nuclear and Radiological Safety Research Center aimed at expanding collaboration in scientific research, knowledge exchange, and advanced nuclear and radiological technologies.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Mahmoud Shakal, Vice President for Employment, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Prof. Nadia Helal, President of the Center.
Prof. Mahmoud Shakal highlighted the University’s ongoing efforts, through its Industrial Services Office, to expand partnerships with research and industrial institutions in ways that strengthen the connection between education, scientific research, and practical application, while creating greater opportunities for students to engage with emerging technologies and innovation-driven fields.
The symposium featured a series of specialized scientific sessions addressing the peaceful applications of atomic energy, nuclear and radiological safety, and radiation protection and prevention measures.
Prof. Nadia Helal presented an overview of the Center’s role in supporting scientific research and advancing peaceful applications of atomic energy, emphasizing the importance of promoting accurate scientific awareness in the field.
Additional sessions included a presentation by Prof. Yasser Ahmed on non-medical radiation applications, a lecture by Prof. Mostafa Ashmawy on medical applications of radiation, and a session by Prof. El-Sayeda Salem on nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness and response mechanisms.
The symposium reflects Benha National University’s broader strategy to strengthen scientific research, develop students’ academic and practical competencies, and expand collaboration with specialized research institutions in line with rapid technological advancements across scientific and technological sectors.
