Benha National University Launches Internal Hackathon for the Green Loop Competition | “Reuse. Innovate. Build.”

Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s efforts to promote innovation, advance the principles of the circular economy and environmental sustainability, and foster a culture of entrepreneurship, Benha National University is launching an internal hackathon to select the top three student projects to officially represent the University in the national competition “University Waste Management 2026: Reuse. Innovate. Build.” (Green Loop Competition), organised by the Innovators Support Fund (ISF) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the Leadership Development Institute.

The hackathon reflects the University’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to develop innovative ideas and solutions to environmental challenges and translate creative concepts into practical, viable projects. It also seeks to promote innovation and sustainability while fostering a culture of teamwork and entrepreneurship among students.

 Participation Requirements

▪️ The hackathon is open to all Benha National University students.

▪️ Each team must consist of 3 to 5 members.

▪️ Teams are encouraged to include members from diverse academic backgrounds to foster integration across engineering, technology, medical, humanities, and creative disciplines.

▪️ Each team must have at least one functional prototype demonstrating the proposed solution during the evaluation presentations.

▪️ Each team must present an integrated solution addressing all four competition tracks:

1️⃣ Smart Technology Track

2️⃣ Engineering Innovation Track

3️⃣ Creative Design Track

4️⃣ Green Business Models Track

 Cash Prizes and Incubation Opportunities

The three teams selected through Benha National University’s internal hackathon will have the opportunity to officially represent the University and advance to the national-level competition among Egyptian universities.

At the national level, the qualifying teams will compete for cash prizes as well as opportunities for project incubation and development provided by the Innovators Support Fund.

🥇 First Place: EGP 200,000 + startup incubation support.

🥈 Second Place: EGP 150,000 + project development support and startup incubation.

🥉 Third Place: EGP 100,000 + project follow-up, development, and incubation support.

📎 In addition, four special awards, valued at EGP 20,000 each, will be presented for:

  • Greatest Environmental Impact
  • Outstanding Innovation
  • Team Spirit
  • Digital Presence
