Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, the University has concluded the International Summer School organized by Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM), held from August 4 to 18, 2026. The 15-day program formed part of the University’s efforts to strengthen international academic and cultural cooperation and provide students with an integrated educational experience combining academic training, knowledge exchange, and cultural engagement.
The program brought together a delegation of 17 students and supervisors from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. Its comprehensive program featured academic sessions, practical and creative workshops, as well as educational, cultural, and sightseeing visits, giving participants an opportunity to experience aspects of Egypt’s educational environment and society while gaining a deeper understanding of the country’s rich history and cultural heritage.
The academic activities included specialized lectures and workshops on modern medicine and medical technologies, as well as educational visits to Benha University Hospital and the Medical Skills and Simulation Center. The students were introduced to contemporary approaches to medical training and explored the University’s advanced facilities and resources supporting medical education and practical training.
The program also provided opportunities for direct engagement with University leaders, faculty members, and students from Benha National University, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences and strengthening academic and student connections between the two universities.
Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, emphasized that the success of the Summer School reflects the University’s commitment to strengthening international relations and engaging with diverse educational and cultural experiences from around the world. He commended the academic, administrative, and organizational teams whose coordinated efforts contributed to the successful delivery of the program.
He further noted that the University’s cooperation with Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine extends beyond the academic and cultural activities offered to the Chinese delegation to include student exchange and joint activities. He added that Benha National University students will participate in a Summer School at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in September, further strengthening ongoing academic and student exchange between the two institutions.
Prof. Hazem Aliwa, Supervisor of the International Relations Sector, described the Summer School as a successful model of academic and cultural exchange. He highlighted the program’s integrated approach, which brought together academic learning, practical training, and exposure to Egyptian culture, and affirmed the University’s aspiration to expand the scope of cooperation and develop further joint programs in the coming period.
The cultural and heritage component of the program included visits to several of Egypt’s most prominent historical and cultural landmarks, including the Pyramids and the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and the Religious Complex. The delegation also visited Alexandria, including the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Citadel of Qaitbay, and the Aquarium Museum.
The program also featured a Nile cruise, visits to Khan el-Khalili and a number of recreational destinations and shopping centers, as well as a visit to the Chinese Embassy in Cairo. Joint student activities were organized with students from Benha National University, further enriching the exchange experience.
The Chinese students expressed their appreciation for the program, highlighting Egypt’s ancient civilization and cultural diversity, as well as the warmth and hospitality they experienced during their stay. They also expressed their appreciation of Egyptian cuisine and documented their visits and activities through photographs and videos shared on social media.
Several students described the program as a particularly enriching academic and cultural experience and expressed their interest in returning to Egypt in the future with their families to explore its history, civilization, and culture more extensively.
The Summer School concluded with a closing ceremony, during which participation certificates were presented to the students, followed by commemorative photographs. The event marked the successful completion of a program that brought together academic learning, cultural engagement, and meaningful intercultural exchange.
At the closing of the program, members of the Chinese delegation expressed their appreciation to the leadership of Benha National University and to the academic, administrative, and organizational teams involved in planning and delivering the Summer School. They commended the University for providing a comprehensive experience that brought together education, practical training, cultural engagement, and meaningful human interaction.
