The Supreme Council of Universities has approved the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year, setting out the key dates for the start of teaching, mid-term and final examinations, and the mid-year break, in line with the arrangements governing study and assessment at each faculty.
Teaching at universities and institutes will begin on Saturday, 19 September 2026, with each semester comprising 15 weeks of teaching, in accordance with the approved calendar.
Key Dates for the 2026/2027 Academic Year
- 19 September 2026: Start of teaching at universities and institutes for the new academic year.
- November 2026: First-semester mid-term examinations, held during the first three weeks of the month, according to the schedule set by each faculty.
- 31 December 2026: End of teaching for the first semester.
- 2 January 2027: Start of first-semester final examinations.
- 23 January 2027: Start of the mid-year break.
- 6 February 2027: Start of teaching for the second semester.
- Late March to early April 2027: Second-semester mid-term examinations, according to the arrangements set by each faculty.
- 20 May 2027: End of teaching for the second semester.
- May and June 2027: Second-semester examinations, scheduled in accordance with the nature of study and assessment arrangements at each faculty.
