Under the patronage of Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Benha National University is taking part in the 36th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE 2026), held in Glasgow, United Kingdom, from 8 to 11 September. The University is represented by Prof. Hussein El-Maghraby, Vice President for Academic Affairs, as part of the participation of 24 Egyptian universities in this major international event, which is one of the world’s leading gatherings dedicated to international education. The conference brings together more than 7,000 participants, over 1,000 institutions and organisations, and more than 250 exhibitors from around the world.
Benha National University’s participation reflects its commitment to expanding cooperation with international universities and academic and research institutions, drawing on global expertise and experience, and keeping abreast of the latest developments and practices in international education. These efforts support the continued development of the University’s academic and research environment while creating new opportunities for its students, faculty members and researchers.
As part of the conference and exhibition programme, the University held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of international universities and academic and research institutions. Discussions focused on opportunities to establish and develop new academic and research partnerships, strengthen existing areas of cooperation, and explore opportunities for joint and dual degree programmes, student and faculty exchange, academic mobility, research collaboration and capacity building.
The meetings also explored potential cooperation in innovation, entrepreneurship, training and professional development, alongside approaches to attracting international students and introducing them to the academic programmes and disciplines offered by Benha National University. These efforts support the University’s commitment to expanding its international network and developing new educational and academic opportunities for its students.
Benha National University also made full use of the conference’s accompanying scientific and professional programme, which addresses a range of global issues and trends related to the internationalisation of higher education, international partnerships, innovation in education, academic mobility, international student recruitment and universities’ social responsibility. The programme features more than 240 sessions and activities throughout the conference, providing extensive opportunities for representatives of higher education institutions, experts and specialists from around the world to exchange knowledge, experience and perspectives.
The meetings also highlighted the importance of moving beyond initial introductions and the exchange of ideas towards practical pathways for institutional cooperation. This includes identifying areas of shared interest and examining mechanisms for implementing proposed programmes and projects, helping translate the outcomes of these discussions into viable partnerships and collaborative initiatives with tangible academic, research and training benefits.
The University’s participation also provided an opportunity to explore recent international practices in educational programme development and the advancement of academic mobility, as well as new models of cooperation among universities and higher education and research institutions. These experiences offer valuable opportunities to inform the development of academic practices and expand international learning and training opportunities for the University’s students.
