Under the patronage of Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, and as part of the University’s commitment to supporting practical training and developing the medical, surgical and research skills of its students and members, the Faculty of Medicine has launched the ‘Medical and Research Skills Workshops’ series at the University’s Medical Skills and Simulation Centre. The series aims to strengthen participants’ academic and professional capabilities and equip them with up to date practical skills aligned with the requirements of medical practice.
The launch was attended by Prof. Ashraf El Mashad, Director of Programmes, Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Sherine Emam, and a number of distinguished professors of general surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at Benha University, including Prof. Mostafa Bayoumi, Prof. Mokhtar Bahbah and Prof. Ahmed Eliwa.
The series began with a workshop on ‘Basic Surgical Skills’, designed to develop participants’ practical surgical capabilities through an interactive training environment where they could practise a range of fundamental surgical skills under the supervision of experienced specialists.
The workshop included a practical component that enabled participants to receive hands on training in basic surgical skills, strengthening the practical application of the scientific content and reinforcing the integration of academic knowledge with professional practice in an environment designed to simulate real life medical practice.
The intensive training programme will continue with a series of specialised workshops covering the fundamentals of first aid, basic laparoscopic surgical skills, the fundamentals of scientific research writing and how to publish a research paper, as well as the basics of using ultrasound.
The workshops have received strong engagement from participants, highlighting the value of practical training programmes in developing medical skills. The programme also reflects the Faculty’s commitment to continuing to organise specialised workshops that bring together academic knowledge and practical application, contributing to the development of students’ and Faculty members’ capabilities and enhancing their readiness for professional practice.
This training series forms part of Benha National University’s efforts to strengthen applied medical education and provide comprehensive training opportunities that combine academic preparation, practical experience and research skills, supporting the preparation of qualified medical professionals equipped to meet the demands of both their studies and professional practice.
