Benha National University Students Explore Industrial Applications of Design During Visit to Obour Land Factory

The Faculty of Visual Arts and Design at Benha National University organised a field visit to the Obour Land factory in Obour City for students enrolled in the Media Arts and Advertising programme. Supervised by Dr Haidy Youssef, Assistant Professor at the Faculty, the visit formed part of the University’s efforts to advance practice-based education and strengthen partnerships between academia and industry. It aimed to connect students’ practical projects with real-world industrial applications, deepen their understanding of labour market requirements, and explore opportunities to apply their creative skills in support of industrial enterprises.

The visit reflects the University’s commitment to providing an integrated educational experience that combines academic study with practical application. It gave students the opportunity to gain first hand insight into the working environment of an industrial enterprise, understand production processes, and explore how their specialisations can be applied in design, advertising and visual communication, in line with market demands and ongoing developments in brand development.

The visit also sought to strengthen students’ ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical solutions and draw inspiration from industry to develop creative, implementable ideas. This approach supports the development of their academic projects and ensures greater alignment with the needs of production oriented businesses. It also helps cultivate design thinking, innovation and problem-solving skills, preparing graduates with the competencies required to compete in the labour market.

The initiative reflects the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design’s commitment to expanding collaboration and engagement with industrial organisations, while providing field-based learning opportunities that familiarise students with the practical challenges of professional environments. It also aims to enhance their ability to develop innovative design and advertising solutions that support Egyptian products and strengthen their visual identity in the marketplace.

Benha National University remains committed to strengthening the integration of education and industry and broadening students’ practical experience. These efforts support sustainable development objectives and help prepare graduates to apply their knowledge and creative abilities in service of society and in response to the evolving needs of the labour market.
