Benha National University Organized Awareness Seminar against Violence against Women

Benha National University organized an awareness seminar titled "Against Violence against Women" as part of the "Awareness" initiative launched by the university in collaboration with "Decent Life" Foundation, the National Council for Women, the Education Directorate in Kalyobiya, and the Anti-Addiction Fund. The aim is to increase community awareness of various cultural, social, health, and educational issues, contributing to building an informed society capable of facing modern challenges.

During his speech, Prof. Tamer Samir, President of Benha National University, emphasized that opposing violence against women is not just a legal or social responsibility but a humanitarian necessity. Women are the foundation of societal stability, and it is our duty to cooperate to ensure their rights, protection, and empowerment.

Prof. Samir stressed the university's commitment to raising awareness about the importance of women's empowerment and achieving justice and equality between genders, noting that this issue is fundamental to achieving social justice and sustainable development. Empowering women and achieving gender equality means not only granting girls their basic rights but also enhancing their roles in society, leading to improved quality of life for everyone.

Prof. Mahmoud Shakl, Vice President of the University for Employment, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, pointed out that women's empowerment is one of the key pillars for achieving sustainable development. He emphasized that innovation and entrepreneurship are powerful tools for supporting and economically empowering women, highlighting the importance of providing a supportive environment that enhances women's participation in the labor market and fields of innovation, contributing to building a more just and inclusive society.

The seminar featured several awareness lectures for university students and a number of school directors from the city of Obour. Mr. Mustafa Abdo, Deputy Minister of Education in Kalyobiya, delivered a lecture discussing the importance of collaboration between educational institutions to promote a culture of respect for women and reject violence in all its forms, noting the role of education in instilling positive values in the younger generations, thus fostering an environment free from discrimination and violence.

Mrs. Sherine Barakat, the National Council for Women’s Branch Coordinator in Kalyobiya, presented a lecture on the council's role and activities to support women. The seminar also included a lecture by Ms. Mariam Halim, the alternate coordinator of the National Council for Women in Kalyobiya, discussing the dangers of violence against women and its social implications.

The seminar featured a lecture by Mrs. Mona Zahraan, a member of the National Council for Women, on the importance of financial education and entrepreneurship, and the council's role in empowering women in these areas. Mrs. Wafaa El-Khouli, Director of the Complaints Office in Kalyobiya, discussed the office's role in providing support to women, while Prof. Marian Milad spoke about the negative impact of violence on women's mental and physical health.
